How does this rib rub taste?

This rib rub is the perfect combination of sweet and savory. A little sweet thanks to the brown sugar and very savory thanks to the garlic, salt and pepper, and chili powder.

make sweeter: Increase the brown sugar starting at 1 tsp and adjust to taste.

make spicier: Increase the red pepper flakes by 1/2 tsp and taste to taste.

Make it super sharp: Add 1 tsp. of cayenne pepper.

How Much Rib Rub Should I Use?

Per 2-3 pounds. of ribs —> Use about 4-6 tablespoons of rib rub.

How long can you leave rubbing dry on ribs?

We recommend leaving the rib rub on the meat for at least 30 minutes, but up to overnight. If not using rib marinade, we recommend letting the dry rub sit longer to ensure great flavor.

The longer the ribs are in the spices, the more aromatic it usually gets!

How to make Rib Rub

Making a batch of this rib rub couldn’t be easier!

  1. Combine all the ingredients for the dry rub in a bowl and mix together.
  2. Use this dry rub in our Grilled Ribs, Oven Baked Ribs, or Sous Vide Ribs recipe, or 2 to 3 lbs. any baby back ribs recipe by sprinkling it onto the ribs and massaging it in with your hands.
  3. Store leftover rib dry rub in an airtight container in a cool, dark place for up to 3 months.

How to use this dry rub

  1. Place your desired lbs. of baby back ribs on a rimmed baking sheet.
  2. Sprinkle on the rib rub and massage into the ribs from all sides. Make sure all parts are covered and be generous!
  3. Let sit for at least 15 minutes before cooking the ribs.

You should let your ribs set with the dry rub for at least 15 minutes, but up to 48 hours if refrigerated. 15 minutes is the minimum time it takes to tenderize the meat.
