Guacamole recipe
Do you want to know how to make guacamole? This easy guacamole recipe, made with Haas avocados, red onions, cilantro, and lots of lime juice, is a constant buzzword for me. I add a bit of fresh garlic as my secret ingredient for some extra zing. It is the best! This guac is a staple at every gathering and a must have when we have taco nights. Always in charge of the prep, Tommy has converted many non-avocado lovers with this recipe. Another favorite is this Crab Guacamole.
Is Guacamole Healthy?
Avocados may be high in fat, but they have the essential healthy fats we should be consuming on a daily basis. They’re also high in fiber, high in vitamins B, E, and K, and have “60 percent more potassium than bananas.”
What is guacamole made of?
- Avocados: Avocado flesh from ripe, medium-sized Haas avocados
- Lime: Squeeze a lime.
- Red onion: Chop a third cup of red onion.
- Garlic: Crush a small clove of garlic.
- Coriander: If you don’t like cilantro, leave it out.
- salt and pepper taste good
Prepare guacamole:
- Start with perfectly ripe avocados. If it’s too harsh or overripe, the results will be far from outstanding.
- The trick to making a good guacamole is to leave large chunks of avocado for the best texture; do not puree or puree them thoroughly.
- The perfect balance of lime juice, red onion, and salt is essential.
- If you like it spicy you can add some diced jalapeños, some people also like diced tomatoes which is fine but we like it just the way it is!
Tips for making guacamole ahead of time:
- Guacamole really is at its best when freshly made. However, if you need to make it a little sooner, add the seeds to the bowl along with some sliced lime wedges and cover tightly with plastic wrap on top of the guacamole. Place in the fridge for a few hours before eating.
- Adding extra lime juice will help prevent browning.
- I recommend doing it the same day, but if you have to, keep it 1 day. When the top turns brown, scrape off the top and the rest should be green.
- Refrigerate leftovers for up to 24 hours.
Can you use lemon juice instead of lime in guacamole?
Traditional guacamole is made with lime juice, but if you’re on the go, lemon is a good substitute.
What to serve with guacamole
Guacamole dip goes great with baked tortilla chips, lentil chips or Tostones air fryer. I like it on nachos Chicken Fajitas, tacos or tostadas. You can also spread it on a wrap, sandwich or similar Turkey Burger instead of mayonnaise.
