How to make homemade granola

There are a few rules of thumb that we like to follow when making homemade granola. Follow these tips and tricks and you’ll never make a bad granola recipe again.

cooking temperature: Make sure your oven is at a high enough temperature to crisp up your granola. This recipe calls for a cooking temperature of 350ºF, which will crisp the oatmeal and peanuts perfectly when they are all evenly coated in your peanut butter, honey, coconut oil, and vanilla extract mixture. Which brings us to our next tip…

Granola coating: As you fold your dry granola ingredients into your melted wet ingredients, it’s crucial that you give them a good stir! Make sure to fold the ingredients together until each oatmeal and peanut is completely coated in your peanut butter mixture. This will give you a consistent flavored peanut butter cup granola.

Store granola: If you’re not serving a crowd (or you don’t end up eating that granola in one sitting – no judgment!), your granola is stored in an airtight container so it stays crunchy to the last bite. This granola will keep in an airtight container for up to two weeks. Or, this granola recipe can be frozen and stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.

  • First, preheat the oven to 350ºF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Next, melt coconut oil and place in a medium-sized bowl. Then add peanut butter, honey and vanilla and mix until smooth.
