I tried an acai bowl for the first time last month in Edinburgh and really enjoyed it. I shared a photo on Instagram stories asking if you want me to share the recipe and here it is.
In case you don’t know, acai is a berry found in the Amazon rainforests and has many health benefits. It boosts the immune system, generally increases the level of energy and stamina, lowers cholesterol, helps with weight loss, has high levels of antioxidants, etc.
I’ve seen a lot of bloggers use acai puree, but I’ve only found acai powder here in Spain, so that’s what I used. I guess puree is less processed and more nutritious, but powder is also a good option, it’s more convenient and lasts longer.

Instructions
-
Chop the bananas and freeze them overnight.
-
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
-
Serve with your favorite toppings. We added fresh blueberries, kiwi and walnuts.
notes
- I used frozen bananas to make the creamiest acai bowl. Feel free to add plain bananas if you like, but add less milk.
- Frozen blueberries can also be used. Add more milk if needed.
- Use unsweetened or sweetened milk, your choice. Any plant milk is fine.
