Bruschetta has to be one of the best appetizers out there. It’s super simple but filled with so much flavor. It only takes a few minutes to prepare and if you have fresh ingredients it’s just perfect!

This is exactly why this is my favorite bruschetta recipe. It only takes 5 minutes to prepare and only a few different ingredients are used. You can just throw it together when you want a snack or make a large batch for a dinner party. Whatever the occasion, you will love this recipe. The tomato flavor is so strong, with just the right amount of garlic, pepper, basil and balsamic vinegar. All ingredients work together in perfect harmony and make something very special.

It only takes 5 minutes and you won’t be messing up a million pots, pans and bowls. As for recipes, they don’t get much simpler than this one, although the flavors in this bruschetta are far from simple.
  • Perfect for a party. I love making bruschetta when I have a party. Whether it’s a dinner party, a larger event, or a potluck I’m attending, this makes great party food. It’s easy to make a big batch of and will be a hit with everyone. It’s an easy finger food and goes with almost anything.

  • tomatoes – I recommend Roma tomatoes or vine tomatoes, but you can use other varieties as well.
  • Fresh basil
  • olive oil
  • balsamic vinegar
  • Garlic
  • Kosher salt
  • Black pepper – Always use freshly ground black pepper.
  • Baguette

How to make bruschetta

Here’s how to make this 5-minute appetizer. It couldn’t be easier!

  • Make the sauce. Place the tomatoes, basil, garlic, olive oil, and vinegar in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper and mix.

  • Prepare the bread. Cut the baguette into ½ cm thick slices. Brush each side with olive oil, then toast or grill until golden brown.

  • Add garlic. After the bread is toasted, rub a piece of raw garlic on top.
  • End. Pour the sauce on the bread and serve.

Tips and Tricks

Here are a few of my favorite tips for preparing this recipe.

  • Make your own bread. If you really want to take this recipe to the next level, you can use homemade baguettes. Everything tastes better on homemade bread, and this recipe is no exception. Even if you don’t make your baguettes yourself, make sure to use fresh bread whenever possible.
  • Use quality ingredients. There are many recipes where you can use the cheapest ingredients and you’ll never know the difference, but this isn’t one of them. Bruschetta is about using quality, simple ingredients and letting the flavors shine through. With this recipe, be sure to use beautiful tomatoes, super-fresh basil, and high-quality balsamic vinegar.
  • Make it on time. Making the tomato mix ahead of time and putting it in the fridge will only make it better. The ingredients will blend together over time, creating stronger flavors. For best results, prepare the sauce the day before assembling the bruschetta.

How to store leftover bruschetta

Leftover bruschetta won’t last long after assembly as the bread will go soggy very quickly. However, you can store the tomato mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Can I freeze this recipe?

I don’t recommend freezing bruschetta as the fresh tomatoes don’t freeze and then thaw well. The texture won’t be quite right.

For the bruschetta mixture:

  • 1 1/2 cup diced tomatoes (6-7 Roma tomatoes or 4-5 regular tomatoes)

  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, finely chopped

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped

  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper


  • 1 baguette

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 clove of garlic


  1. Place chopped tomatoes, basil, olive oil, vinegar and garlic in a bowl. Swirl gently to combine.
  2. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cut the baguette into slices about 1/2 cm thick. Brush each side with olive oil and toast or grill until golden brown.
  4. Rub a piece of raw garlic over each piece of toasted bread.
  5. Sprinkle with the tomato mixture and serve.


  • The bruschetta mixture will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • Do not store the bruschetta already assembled or the bread will become soggy.
