What happened to Kudo’s granola bars

Were you as obsessed with kudos granola bars as I am? They’re basically a candy bar in the shape of a granola bar. Upon reviewing the Kudos Bar’s history, I realized that my knowledge of the treat was a bit skewed. What I thought was that there were only flavors: dove chocolate, mini M&M and Snickers! My favorite has always been the mini M&M flavor.

Apparently there were seven flavors at one point! The bar first came out in the 1980s and lasted until 2017 (although they were a bit difficult to find towards the end). I found a great description of the lifespan of the kudos bar. To learn more, visit Vintage Americana.

Basically, there was no easy answer to her disappearance. If I had to guess, it was diet (or lack thereof) for a bar marketed to children. Maybe they would have done better than “healthier“Candy bar? Who knows!

Vintage Americana says it’s filing for a new trademark registration for 2020, so let’s see if these delights make it back to the shelves!

This is what a Kudos granola bar tastes like

Kudos Granola Bars taste like a heartier, sweeter rice krispie treat. I mean when it’s covered in chocolate and candy it would be hard not to be cuter!

These bars have a base of oatmeal, rice krispies and brown sugar. This, like I said above, makes them taste like a heartier rice krispie treat.lol

How to store Kudos granola bars

Because these bars don’t contain any additives to keep them fresher longer like store-bought Kudos bars would have, they should be refrigerated. This makes them last longer better than keeping them on the kitchen counter.

The chocolate may discolour slightly after a day. That’s perfectly fine and safe! It’s called the flower. This is normal with chocolate and is related to the quality of your chocolate. Overall no fear. Keep enjoying your Kudos Granola Bars!
