Best blender for smoothies
First, let’s talk about the mixer situation. I know there are hundreds of blenders on the market and finding the right one for you can be very daunting. One thing I’ve learned from the few blenders I own is that quality matters. Usually quality and price match and that’s totally true.
I have found that the more expensive and high quality the blender, the more successful I am with what I prepare, especially with smoothies. The newest and BEST blender I’ve ever had is a Vitamix.
We have a Vitamix and on Amazon, it costs about $350. I can’t say anything bad about this beast. It’s super powerful, easy to clean and makes preparing smoothies and other things a breeze. I can now tell you that this is the best blender I have ever owned and there is no going back.

More Recommendations for smoothie blenders
I would like to share some other great blenders that I personally own and can recommend depending on the price range.
Inexpensive: Ninja Personal Blender $59 — This is a great single serve blender for those looking to save space. In addition, the price is unbeatable.
Average cost: Ninja kitchen system $199 — I’ve owned the Ninja Kitchen System for about 5 years and love that it’s interchangeable between a blender, food processor and single serve smoothie maker. For $229 you really do have it all!
High costs: Vitamix 5200 $550 — At the highest price, the Vitamix is THE BEST kitchen appliance I have ever owned. It will crush, pulverize, blend or puree literally anything and everything because it is so powerful! I highly recommend it, 10/10!

How to make a smoothie
If you’re wondering how to make a smoothie, don’t worry, you’re not the only one googling this! Smoothies are a great thing if you know how to make them, if you’re in college, need a quick breakfast, or have “nothing in the closets.” I’ll walk you through exactly how to make the perfect smoothie every time.
We thought it would be useful to create some kind of equation so you can use what you have at home!

Step 1: Gather ingredients
When it comes to smoothies, it’s all about finding the perfect fruit-to-liquid ratio. That’s why you see in our basic smoothie recipe, we have approx 1 cup of liquid to 2 cups of frozen fruit. You’ll also see that we don’t use ice in our smoothies because we believe ice dilutes the flavor and defeats the purpose of using frozen fruit!
- 2 cups frozen fruit (Banana, Strawberries, Mixed Berries, Pineapple, Tropical Mix, etc.)
- 1 cup liquid (orange juice, almond milk, coconut water, coconut milk, water)
We say 2:1 with caution because everyone has their own preferences. Some people like to drink smoothies through a straw, others like them thick enough to be eaten with a spoon. So start with 1 cup of liquid and add more as needed.
In addition to the 2:1 fruit to liquid ratio, you can also add other ingredients like protein powder, vegetables, Greek yogurt, seeds, etc.
Step 2: Mix
Now it’s time to put all the ingredients in the blender. Remember, you can always add more liquid, but you can’t take it away! We recommend blending on high until smooth.
If you’re using something like kale or spinach, it may take some time for the blender to do its job. You just have to be patient. Depending on how frozen your fruit is, you may need to stop the blender and use a spatula to scrape down the sides and/or add more liquid!
Step 3: Serve
Once your smoothie recipe is the consistency you want, it’s time to serve. You have the choice: cup or bowl. Smoothie bowls are all the rage right now, but you can also enjoy it the classic way with a mug or glass.

Smoothie topping ideas
Don’t forget the toppings. If you’re like me, you don’t skimp when it comes to toppings. Here are some of my favorites:
