Vegan Summer Camp is a dream come true for young changemakers

by admin

Youth Empowered Action (YEA) Camp A life-changing vegan summer camp for 12-to-17-year-olds determined to make a big difference in their care for social justice.

For the past 14 years, youth from across the country have come together each summer for leadership and activism training so they can effectively address issues related to animal rights, racial and gender equality, climate change, poverty, gun violence and more.

Bonus: YEA Camp is 100% vegan!

As a social justice camp, YEA Camp serves meals that are consistent with its core values, which is why it only offers delicious vegan meals that are fair trade, organic, and locally grown when possible. Participants don’t have to be vegan, but they must prefer the “vegan-friendly” meals served daily. According to the YEA Camp website, food collectors get reviews year after year—even from people who normally eat animal products.

This year’s camp will be held from July 1 to July 9 in Hinsdale, Massachusetts. Not in the area? No problem! Campers and staff will fly in from all over the country to participate. According to YEA Camp, staff will even pick up participants from the airport if a ride is needed!

Through YEA Camp, young people will build their confidence, develop skills, make incredible like-minded friends and leave with an action plan and a community to help make a difference in a cause of their choice when they go home. Past camp participants have done inspirational work such as changing school policies and starting clubs, helping candidates get elected, and organizing protests.
